FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
"Your questions, answered."
Everything you might wonder about in-home dental hygiene care.
Choosing dental care at home is a meaningful decision — one that often comes with questions. Below are answers to what patients and families most often ask. If your question isn't here, Nooshin is always happy to talk through it personally.
Q1 — What is an RDHAP?
A Registered Dental Hygienist in Alternative Practice (RDHAP) is a licensed dental hygienist with advanced training that allows them to provide preventive dental hygiene care outside of a traditional dental office — in homes, care facilities, and community settings.
Q2 — Do I still need a dentist?
Yes. Nooshin provides preventive hygiene care but does not replace your dentist — she works alongside your dental team and shares detailed notes and findings for continuity of care. For patients who don't currently have a dentist, Nooshin is happy to refer them to trusted dentists she works with regularly.
Q3 — What equipment does Nooshin bring?
Nooshin brings professional-grade portable dental hygiene equipment, including her own sterilization tools, so every visit meets the same clinical standards you'd expect in a private dental office.
Q4 — How long does a typical visit take?
Most visits last between 45 minutes and 90 minutes, depending on the patient's needs. Nooshin takes an unhurried approach — appointments are never rushed.
Q5 — Where do you provide care?
Nooshin serves patients throughout San Mateo County, the Peninsula, and greater Bay Area. Please reach out to confirm availability for your location.
Q6 — How often should hygiene visits happen?
It depends on each patient's individual oral health needs. Some patients benefit from visits every three months, while others do well with cleanings twice a year. During the initial consultation, Nooshin will recommend a personalized care schedule based on the patient's oral health, medical history, and living situation.
